This directory contains all the programs and data for "the fiscal roots of inflation," and 
"a fiscal theory of monetary policy with partially-repaid long term debt" 
The main programs are 

fiscal roots: inflation_decomposition_6.m
fiscal theory: ftmp_model_final.m

Each of these calls other programs and loads data as needed.

Both programs are Matlab m files. I ran them on Matlab version R2020b update 3 (9.9.0.1538559) 
64-bit (maci64) November 23 2020, on a 2018 MacBook Air, using macOS Big Sur version 11.2.3. 
However, nothing in the programs is specific to this machine or version of Matlab. 

The initial call to inflation_decomposition_6 should be made with do_bs set to 1,  which will 
run the Monte Carlo. This takes about 5 minutes. After that set do_bs to 0, and it will load the 
Monte Carlo results. Then both programs run in less than a minute, with most time devoted to 
the graphics.
