Instructions to reproduce the output of "Sales of Durable Goods and the Real Effects of Monetary Policy".

The softwares used are Matlab R2019b, Dynare 4.6.1 and Stata 16.0. The code was run on Windows 10 on a desktop computer with Intel i7-6700 CPU @3.40GHz and 32 GB RAM. The runtime for the code in the folders "WU_RED_Codes/Stata" and "WU_RED_Codes/Matlab/Table 1" are less than 2 minutes. The runtime for the code in folder "WU_RED_Codes/Matlab/Calibration_PE" is about 1 hour. The runtime for the code in folder "WU_RED_Codes/Matlab/Aggregate_GE" is about 48 hours. 


The Matlab codes make use of the Compecon library available at: http://www4.ncsu.edu/~pfackler/compecon/toolbox.html, as well as Matlab’s statistics toolbox. 


1. Run "Table1_start.m" in "WU_RED_Codes/Matlab/Table 1" to reproduce Table 1.

2. Run "main_fig.do" in "WU_RED_Codes/Stata" to reproduce Figure 1 and Figure 2. 

3. Run "main_GL.m", "main_benchmark.m", and "main_nosale.m" in "WU_RED_Codes/Matlab/Calibration_PE" to reproduce Table 3 and Table 4.

4. Run "main_GL.m", "main_benchmark.m", and "main_nosale.m" in "WU_RED_Codes/Matlab/Aggregate_GE" to reproduce Table 5.
