HOW TO GENERATE THE FIGURES This describes how to use the codes to produce graph and figures in the paper _________________________________________________________ 1. MODEL FIGURES Run the MainRED.m program This call the file REDPlots.m The different figures are generated by choosing the different options Option ‘Base’ generates Figure 2 (p 22), Figures 3 (p 23), Figures 4A and 4C (page 26), and Figure A1 (page 43) Option `Slack' generates Figure 4B Option `LowEffort' generates Figure 4C Option ’HighEffort’generates Figure 4D _________________________________________________________ 2. DATA FIGURES and Tables Figure 1 (page 4 ) is obtained directly from the file `MaxBenefit_by_state.pdf’ Figure 5 and Table 5 (page 30) Run file `Figure5_Table5.m’ The file `Figure5_Table5.m’ call the function `lscatter’ and uses the data file `data_REDpaper.xls’ The file `data_REDpaper.xls’ hence contains all data used in the paper. In turn this data, as explained in the excel file, is obtained by two online sources: Source: http://www.clasp.org/data Source: http://www.acf.hhs.gov/programs/ofa/resource/caseload2009
