This package replicates the estimation results from Bayer and Juessen (2012) "On the dynamics of interstate migratiuon: Migration costs and self-selection." All codes are written for Matlab version 2010b or higher. Run main.m to replicate the estimations. The Matlab data file Migration_data.mat contains the relevant migration and income data. The function simulate_likelihood.m generates moment-distances from simulated and actual data. The function simulate_likelihoodFE.m generates moment-distances from simulated and actual data for a model with fixed effects. The function simulate.m and simulateFE.m perform the actual simulations. The functions simulate_Micro.m and simulate_MicroFE simulate household panels. Once the main.m programm has been run, run makeTables.m to tabulate results. Codes make use of parallel computing.
