Prog_basic.m does one run of the code, calibrates the 1998 model, solves the 1998 and the 1978 model and displays the solution. Generates an ASCII log-file This routine can generate the results for Tables 5, 6, 7 Prog_u78.m Asks the question, by how much some of the parameter values would have to have changed from 1978 to 1998 in order to fully explain the unemployment differential. Generates a LaTeX table formatted output file. This routine can generate the results for Tables 8, 9, 10 Prog_Robust.m loops over a wide range of values for several parameters. Indicates the robustness of the benchmark model. Generates a LaTeX table-formatted output file. This routine can generate the results for Table 11 Prog_graphs.m generates all the graphs for the paper except for the robustness of small surplus calibration graph. This routine can generate the results for Figures 4 - 8. Prog_HM.m Asks, by how much we would have to increase the Costain Reiter statistic (semielasticity of unemployment with respect to benefits) in order to have product market deregulation explain the entire unemployment differential. This is done with and without overhiring. Then the subroutine graph_HM_publish is called to generate the graph for the paper. This routine can generate the results for Figure 9.
